What We Do

Thriving Together is a process that brings together "what matters" for the community with what works".

Our Goal

Reduce early childhood development vulnerability by 50%

We believe we can achieve this by engaging parents, community and local services in redesigning their way of working to better support children living in low socio-economic areas.

Thriving Together is not a service model. It is an implementation science process that builds local awareness, capacity, capability and coordination to deliver better results.

The History

The idea for Thriving Together came during a webinar hosted by Healthy Australia to explore the child protection issues within the Early Childhood Education and Care sector in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sector understood the current and emerging child protection issues but felt there was a need for wrap around supports to improve the capability and capacity to support children and parents.

The Prototype

A model for Thriving Together was developed and the model tested as a prototype with the funding from HubHello and Waratah Education Foundation.

The prototype was tested in South Grafton in 2020 and the model was subsequently redesigned from local feedback and a review of the evidence surrounding adverse childhood experiences. The New School of Arts (NSOA) neighbourhood centre and early childhood education and care service acted as the anchor for the prototype.
